Council Uses Wrong Valuation

Fife Council has admitted that the valuation of £13.5M for the Kilrymont site is wrong and should be £9M! How can they make such a large error at the beginning of this process and still expect parents of children at Madras to have confidence in this process? Fife Council officials are still maintaining that the valuation of £3.5M for the South Street site is fair. We believe that an independent valuation of each site should be commissioned or, better still, offer the South Street site for sale as a development site in order to gauge true value. A site is only worth what someone will pay for it, either the University or a developer, and when an accurate valuation for both the sites is known, we will then be able to make sensible decisions about the future of secondary education in NE Fife.

This is an unfortunate start to the process and Fife Council needs to act decisively to restore public confidence in their assessments. How can the CSC meeting on 11th January make the correct decision if the information they are basing their decisions on is suspect?
